We all have an idea of values that are important to us, and as parents, in raising a family in the best way possible but I thought I would share the list we were given as something you may wish to briefly contemplate. It can be a useful exercise to select your top five values and a good starting point for further discussion with your partner.
Which five from the list do you think you would choose? Are there any other values you think are missing that are important to you?

Good thought provoking post!
ReplyDeleteReally, really hard to narrow it down to five but here are mine.
1) Kindness
2) Tolerance
3) Happiness
4) Self belief/Worth
5) Fun
Thanks so much for sharing your top 5! It is hard to pick and different for different people of course. x
DeleteRespect - Love - FAITH (not on the list. I'm not even taking it in a religious context. It's faith in Life, in one's choices, in how things will work out. I don't know how one can live without faith in something) - Self belief/worth - Honesty
ReplyDeletefor me, all the others stem from those 5.
Thank you Maryse! Faith is a great one, as you have outlined so well in your comment. Like you, I also see a lot of overlap/connection with many of those values listed.
DeleteHello again :) Apologies for not being around much of late. I hope you are well?
ReplyDeleteIt would be very difficult to pick just 5, but I'll give it a go:
Love, creativity, self-belief/worth, courage, kindness, fun.
It's hard to exclude some, but for a young person who is setting out on a path and have their who life ahead of them, I think these are a good basis.
Others, like loyalty, tolerance and honesty are also extremely important - but I think when you're young then concepts like these are difficult to 'fully' grasp. Though encouraging an honest response to "did you take that biscuit of your dad's plate?" is always good, of course :) xx
Hi there, good to hear from you and hope you are well too.
DeleteI like your thinking, with the focus on a young child and the kinds of concepts they can grasp and relate to. xx
Ps I realise I chose 6! I still have eye drops in from yesterday's eye tests and have blurred vision, so I'm blaming that ;) x
